Christie & Co hosts the Loop – Hotels event for women in hospitality

Last week, we hosted our annual Christie & Co Loop – Hotels networking event for women in hospitality.

With our pan European hospitality team at Christie & Co composed mostly of women, we are always excited to celebrate our colleagues here and in the wider industry, aiming to support one another and build valuable relationships.

It was a fantastic experience to host such accomplished guests from across all corners of the industry, from major operators to international law firms, to banks and investment firms, and discuss their professional and personal journeys to where they are today.

Guest speaker, Julie Fawcett, Managing Director of Qbic Hotels shared her wonderfully candid perspective on how women can thrive within the hospitality industry, pinpointing confidence as the key to leadership. Reflecting on her own career and discussions with her friends and colleagues over the years, she offered her top tips for women not just in hospitality but in the business world overall.

One strong notion which came across, as it is prevalent for women at all levels of their career, is the importance of crafting and embodying your own personal brand, which emphasizes your personality and professional strengths simultaneously to give you an edge over the competition.

Confidence is key to leadership but there is no quick solution to finding that confidence. Fake it until you make it and find what works for you to define your own personal brand.

The success of our inaugural Loop – Hotels event showed that there is indeed a desire for women to meet and network with other professionals in their industry and we can all benefit from broadening our circles for business and personal development. Having caught up with some of our attendees afterwards, it was overwhelming to hear such positive feedback, with many noting that they felt inspired and above all enjoyed connecting with their peers in a different setting than the meeting room.

We hope to continue to bring together individuals from across the industry and are looking forward to hosting next year’s event to a similar level of success!
