First-time buyer purchases Kinmylies Pharmacy in Inverness

Kinmylies Pharmacy is a well-performing community pharmacy that dispenses an average of 5,700 monthly items. It lies unopposed on a retail parade in the residential area of Kinmylies, two miles west of Inverness City Centre, and benefits from its close proximity to Kinmylies Medical Centre which is only 140 yards away.

Since 2001, the pharmacy has been owned by John Ross who also has seven other pharmacies in the north of Scotland. It was recently brought to market due to staffing challenges, as the business is primarily run by locums and, as noted in Christie & Co’s Pharmacy Market Review last year, Inverness has some of the highest locum rates in the whole of the UK.

Following a confidential sales process with Karl Clezy at Christie & Co, the pharmacy has been purchased by Craig Dorrington of Livingstone Links Ltd, a first-time buyer who has relocated with his family from Glasgow and plans to take a hands-on approach to pharmacy ownership.

Karl Clezy, Director – Medical at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “We managed to generate several notes of interest for this pharmacy from existing contractors and first-time buyers alike. Some of the buyers decided against an offer due to the shortage of pharmacists in community pharmacies, particularly in the Inverness area. It is different with the new owner as he will be running the pharmacy on a full-time basis and I’m sure he will build on what the seller has been doing for many years.”

Kinmylies Pharmacy was sold for an undisclosed price.
