Busy Glasgow pharmacy sold as owners retire after 19 years

LG Pharmacy is a busy community pharmacy in the west end of Glasgow that dispenses an average of 11,250 prescription items per month from over 30 surgeries in the west end area of the city. As the business dispenses a large number of monitored dosage trays/blister packs to around 410 patients, the owners installed a specialised robot in 2020 that automates the dispensing into trays and helps with efficiencies and eliminating mistakes.
The pharmacy has been owned by Michael and Lisa Christie since 2006. Having sold their other Glasgow pharmacy a few years ago, LG Pharmacy was brought to market to allow them to pursue a well-earned retirement.
Following a confidential sales process with Karl Clezy at Christie & Co, it has been sold to Gazenfer Ali of GNA Healthcare, a group operator with three other pharmacies in Glasgow and one in Fife.
Michael and Lisa Christie, former owners of LG Pharmacy, comment, “Since taking over the business in 2006, we have grown from dispensing just 2,000 items a month to the thriving pharmacy it is today. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our incredible core team, who remain at the heart of this community pharmacy. Now, we feel it’s the right time to step back, enjoy more time with our grandchildren, and explore the world. We wish Gazenfer every success in leading LG Pharmacy into its next chapter.

Lisa and Michael have done very well to take it to where it is but, with a little fresh drive, we hope to emulate the success of all of our other pharmacies. 10 years ago, we started with one pharmacy dispensing barely 2,500 items per month and now we are heading towards 50,000 items per month as a group. It's a demonstration of the strength of our team, and I am happy to warmly welcome the team at LG who will be instrumental to the growth we are looking to achieve. LG Pharmacy was sold for an undisclosed price.
