McDaid’s is an established community pharmacy that dispenses an average of 6,000 items per month. It benefits from a strong retail trade which includes the sale of some major brands, and also has a profitable gift section and several well-known make-up stands. It is located on the main street in Dungiven, a small town near Derry City which has two GP practices and one other independently owned pharmacy.
The pharmacy was previously owned by the same family for a very long time and sisters, Therese McDaid and Eithne McDaid, now wanted to retire.
Following a confidential sales process with Karl Clezy at Christie & Co, McDaid’s Pharmacy has been purchased by local first-time buyers, Steafan Mccloskey and Declan Bateson.
Karl Clezy, Director – Pharmacy at Christie & Co, comments, “From day one on the market, we received a lot of enquiries about this pharmacy, which resulted in five viewings being booked in from a mix of first-time buyers, independent contractors, and one large multiple operator. Three offers were received, showing the ongoing appetite for well-run independent pharmacies at this price point.”
McDaid’s Pharmacy was sold for an undisclosed price.
