Initially constructed as a school, the Cottage Nursing Home traded very successfully for over 30 years, offering care to up to 52 elderly clients in 49 bedrooms over ground and first floor levels, with the majority of bedrooms being en suite. Its beautiful period property has been extended on numerous occasions, the most recent including a wing of 24 bedrooms which was completed just three years ago.
The 0.86-acre site benefits from an excellent trading position in a built-up residential area in Mold, close to the town centre and public transport routes.
In September 2021, the operating company of the Cottage Nursing Home fell into administration and the business closed for trading in February 2022. The Administrators, David Shambrook and Gary Hargreaves of FRP Advisory, appointed Christie & Co to market the property on a vacant possession basis with the benefit of a full trade inventory.
Following an open marketing campaign, it has been sold to Rosewood Healthcare Group which comprises six homes across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, and North Wales.
George Khanijau and Sandeep Gupta of Rosewood Healthcare Group comment “We are absolutely thrilled to acquire the former Cottage Nursing Home. There is a distinct lack of provision in the immediate area and we have exciting plans to reconfigure and refurbish the accommodation and reopen the home to provide much needed care for the elderly in the community of Mold and surrounding areas.”
James Knight and Rob Kinsman of Christie & Co managed the sale on behalf of FRP.
James comments, “We’re delighted to conclude the sale of the former Cottage Nursing Home to Rosewood Healthcare Group. After a thorough marketing process, it is great to see the home sold to competent and well-established care operators looking to revamp and reopen it as a care home for the elderly.
“We witnessed strong interest from care operators as well developers and other alternate users. The market for care homes, whether open or closed, is still very competitive, with significantly more buyers than sellers, even while challenges in the sector are still prominent.”
The former Cottage Nursing Home was sold off an undisclosed sum.
